What are people talking about when you hear "Districts"?!?
The District All Star team is comprised of talented young baseball players selected from WTB's In-House program for their appropriate age group to compete in the LLWS Tournament - Little League® World Series.
There are (3) different age divisions of play at the All-Star tournament: 8-10; 9-11; and 11-12.
Players from the WTB Minors Division will be selected for the 8-10 team; while the 9-11 team and the 11-12 team will be selected mostly from the WTB in-house Majors Division.
Coaches from the different In-House teams will help with evaluations over the course of the in-house season based on player skills, performance, attitude, availability and dedication to the sport. These evaluations will then determine the group of eligible players to represent our league at the various age divisions. This selection process ensures that the team consists of the most skilled and committed players from Warwick.
Being chosen to play on a District Little League team is a great honor and opportunity for young athletes to showcase their abilities at a higher level of competition. It also fosters a sense of community pride as players represent their district on the baseball field. The first round of District games usually starts around mid to late June. The 8-10 team and the 9-11 team have the opportunity to move on from Districts onto Sectionals with a final round of play in the State Tournament, should they continue to advance. The 11-12 team can follow the same path as the younger teams, but may continue on through regionals and onto the Little League tournament that ends up in Williamsport on ESPN usually scheduled for mid August. In 2024, a District 30 Team from Newton made it to Williamsport - so it can happen, but it takes a lot of time and dedication.
Player Family expectations - District Pool Play games require a lot of planning and help to get the games done and completed. It is expected that if your player is selected to play on the All -Star Team that you are available to volunteer to help. If you can not volunteer to help, it may impact the opportunity for that player to be on the team. We need everyone to pitch in and help to give these teams a great Little League Tournament Experience.
